Founded in 1995, the Museum on the History of Cypriot Coinage traces the evolution of coinage on the island, spanning from the earliest coins minted in the 6th century BC to the modern era. The collection boasts more than 500 coins, providing a comprehensive overview of Cyprus' tumultuous history over a period of 2,600 years. Divided into nine distinct time periods, showcased across 23 exhibits, these coins serve as a valuable source of information on the numismatic heritage of Cyprus.

The exhibition commences with coinage from the Cyprus City Kingdoms during the 6th to 4th centuries BC and culminates with coins from the Republic of Cyprus in 1960. Notably, the initial collection includes a bronze coin from the Roman period, bearing the inscription ‘ΚΟΙΝΟ(Ν) ΚΥΠΡΙΩΝ’ (League of the Cypriots), symbolizing unity among the island's people. Moreover, visitors can explore the island's historical journey of coins throughout different epochs through an interactive touch screen presentation.
